Decarbonization of road freight - National Truck Platforms

Carbone 4 and the NGO Transport & Environnement will coordinate the French part of the European Climate Foundation's study, conducted in six countries, on decarbonizing freight transport. 

The decarbonisation of the road freight sector has been identified as one of the main challenges for Europe in the next decade. The National Truck Platforms (NTP) are gathering key transport and logistics actors from the industry, public stakeholders, academics and NGO’s – in six European countries to come up with concrete recommendations on what is required to speed up the decarbonisation of the sector. 

Why decarbonising road transport is key: 

• Heavy-duty vehicles represent approximately 1% of the total EU fleet, however they are responsible for more than 26% of the emissions of road transport.
• Trucks represent approximately 5% of the total EU emissions.
