Carbon neutrality: What is the scientific definition?

Some companies have already announced that they intend to achieve—or have even achieved—the carbon neutrality. However, there are still some uncertainties regarding the exact definition, the scope of the commitment, the deadline, the priority to be given to emissions reductions, and the consideration of carbon offsets.

The Net Zero Initiative, led by Carbone 4 and supported by numerous partners, aims to clearly define the concept of carbon neutrality and to realign organizations’ actions with the collective goal of global carbon neutrality, moving beyond false pretenses and marketing hype.
