Another methodological framework therefore appears necessary to assess the actual decarbonization impact of a green electricity procurement strategy.
The Green Electricity methodology makes it possible to assess the decarbonization potential of green electricity contracts. It thus helps prioritize action levers related to electricity supply and align them with other decarbonization levers, such as energy efficiency and electrification.
The criteria
This methodological framework makes it possible to evaluate the quality of the supply under each contract based on three criteria:
Spatial coherence: the proximity between the production site and the consumption site
Temporal consistency: the alignment between production and consumption periods
Additionality: Contributing to the creation of new renewable energy capacity or the maintenance of existing capacity
The Purpose
This assessment makes it possible to assign a supply quality score at the level of one or more assets in a portfolio, expressed in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
