Senior consultant or project leader - IT and climate
Carbone 4 is a carbon strategy consulting firm created in 2007. The firm possesses both technical expertise (carbon assessment, strong specialist knowledge of energy and climate issues) and expertise in strategy, finance and project management. Our aim is to provide our clients with solutions to cap their greenhouse gas emissions, reduce their dependence on fossil energy, and adapt to the climate change that is already underway. We strive to give clients the means to make progress on their action plans.
We are looking to strengthen our IT team in the mitigation practice by recruiting a new senior consultant or a project manager for the mitigation of activities and companies in the digital sector.
Why join the IT team in the Mitigation practice?
Carbone 4 has been building up its expertise in the digital sector for several years now, in response to two issues:
How can we help players in the digital sector in the broadest sense to decarbonise their activities and those of their value chain?
How can digital solutions be used to decarbonise other highly emissive sectors?
The missions
- Managing climate consultancy assignments in the digital sector: supervising one or more consultants in carrying out assignments, planning work and managing customer relations. Typical assignments are as follows, applied to the digital sector: carrying out carbon footprints at the level of the company, product or service, calculating decarbonisation trajectories and drawing up associated action plans, calculating emissions avoided by digital solutions, defining corporate strategies compatible with planetary limits.
- Contributing to the commercial development and positioning of Carbone 4 in its ecosystem (clients and partners) for the IT team within the Mitigation practice: by drafting commercial proposals, supporting commercial offers and developing client and partner relationships.
- Contributing to the Mitigation practice's internal work on digital issues, such as producing publications, monitoring work or developing expertise (analysis articles, methodological improvements, conferences, internal or external training or awareness-raising sessions).
Requirements
- At least 4 to 6 years' professional experience in a company in the IT sector and/or in a consultancy firm dealing with climate issues for the sector. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a consultancy firm is required.
- An interest in the digital ecosystem, private and institutional players, the value chain, business models and the physical flows underlying the digital economy.
- Tech culture, knowledge of the technical language specific to certain features of the sector, knowledge of physical, logical and software levels or architectures.
- Proven experience in customer relations, sales, commercial negotiation, project or assignment management, team leadership and public speaking,
- Experience in leading and managing teams, steering research projects or consultancy assignments.
Profile desired
- Higher education: general engineering or business school, university;
- At ease with figures and data research and analysis (Excel at a minimum, R, Python, SQL and no SQL database languages would be additional assets);
- Strong autonomy and the ability to integrate quickly into a team in a spirit of cooperation and collective intelligence;
- Good analytical and summarising skills: putting into perspective the lessons learned from calculations and modelling (Power Point presentations to company top management, writing articles or publications);
- International by nature, the digital sector requires a very good level of written and spoken English;
- Expertise in life cycle analysis and mastery of associated software (Simapro) would be a plus;
- Oral fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) would be a plus.
